Understanding the Snowgrave Route

The Snowgrave Route, also known as the Weird Route or Alternate Route, is a distinct and darker path available in DELTARUNE Chapter 2. This route offers an alternative version of the standard story and is best experienced after completing a regular playthrough. It significantly alters key aspects of the chapter, primarily by directing Noelle to freeze all enemies in the Cyber World using her IceShock spell, ultimately leading to her utilizing the otherwise inaccessible SnowGrave spell. Successfully completing this route results in minor changes in Chapter 3 and can be continued in subsequent chapters.

Initiating and Maintaining the Route

The Snowgrave Route begins after Noelle joins your party in Cyber City. To initiate and maintain this route, every enemy encountered must be defeated by Noelle’s IceShock, which must deliver the final blow and freeze them. Using any other attack method or sparing enemies will cause the route to fail. Additionally, specific dialogue choices and interactions are mandatory to stay on this path. If any requirement is missed after the route has started, the environment will revert to its pre-Weird Route state.

Upon Noelle joining the party, you must backtrack to the Trash Zone. Ignore Noelle’s protests about going the wrong way. Head east and freeze the Virovirokun blocking the path with IceShock. Save your game, then freeze the Poppup in the next alley. When referring to enemies, if a battle contains multiple foes (e.g., two Poppups, or a Poppup and a Werewire), all of them must be frozen by IceShock. Continue west in the Trash Zone, ignoring Noelle’s protests again, and freeze another Virovirokun. Enter the door to the north at the end of the path and interact with the locked door inside. From this point, proceed back towards Cyber City.

Throughout the route, enemies remain frozen on the overworld after re-entering an area. Each time all enemies in an area are frozen or a route requirement is met, a unique sound (snd_ominous) plays.

Acquiring Key Items

Two crucial items, the FreezeRing and the ThornRing, are essential for the Snowgrave Route.

Getting the FreezeRing: As you move towards Cyber City, freeze an Ambyu-Lance and a Tasque. Save your game near the alleyway save point. In the first Annoying Mouse Puzzle, go south and repeatedly select ā€˜Proceed’. In the subsequent area, freeze two Ambyu-Lances. Before leaving this room, locate a small alley to the west and open the treasure chest to obtain the PinkRibbon. Freeze the Virovirokun and Werewire as you cross the street, then an Ambyu-Lance and Virovirokun in the next room. Speak to the Addison store owner in the eastern corner of this area. When prompted, choose ā€œwe’re something else.ā€ As you attempt to leave, the store owner will offer to sell Noelle the FreezeRing. Tell Noelle ā€œget itā€ five times to acquire it. Equip the PinkRibbon to Kris and the FreezeRing to Noelle. Then, proceed down the small alley to the south.

Getting the ThornRing: Navigate a simple button puzzle with Noelle. Freeze the trio of Tasque in the next room. Enemies will now flee from you, the music will change, and Noelle will exhibit new animations. Interact with the cardboard box on the right four times to get four CD Bagels, then save. Freeze one Werewire and one Virovirokun; note that there are two Werewire spawns, but only one needs to be frozen. You can also find a BounceBlade in a treasure chest to the south. In the next room, freeze an Ambyu-Lance, then a Virovirokun on the road to the east. Continue east, then use the ā€œproceedā€ command five times to make Noelle solve the puzzle. Freeze two Maus. A CD Bagel can be found in a treasure chest to the west. Noelle will solve the next puzzle independently, accompanied by a monologue. In the next room to the east, defeat the roaming Popup and another hiding under a trash can. Clear other trash cans for money. Backtrack to the roads where you froze the Ambyu-Lance and Virovirokun. Cross to the first road, head south, cross back east, and enter the small alley to the east. Here, you can purchase the ThornRing from Spamton, who is hidden in a trash can. Equip the ThornRing to Noelle and remove her other items. Backtrack to the room with the three garbage cans to continue.

Confronting Berdly

From the garbage can room, head south. You will encounter Berdly. After his initial delight at seeing Noelle, he will realize something is amiss. When prompted, select ā€œproceedā€ to initiate the battle. Your objective is to generate 100 TP as quickly as possible. Before this fight, ensure Noelle has frozen all available enemies and that you have acquired and equipped the ThornRing. Noelle should have gained the SnowGrave spell. You must command Noelle to cast SnowGrave before the battle concludes.
