This guide details how to locate and access the hidden bosses in DELTARUNE, covering Chapters 1 through 5. These optional encounters offer significant challenges and unique rewards, including powerful equipment and Shadow Crystals. Each chapter features one major secret boss, requiring specific actions, puzzle-solving, or revisiting previous areas to initiate the fight.
Chapter 1 Secret Boss: Jevil
Jevil is the first secret boss players can encounter in DELTARUNE. This challenging fight is located deep within the Card Castle. To begin the process of reaching him, players must first navigate to the Card Castle.
Once inside the Card Castle, locate the south-eastern elevator. Take this elevator to the mysterious â???????â floor. Upon exiting the elevator, proceed downstairs and interact with Jevil in his cell. He will inform the player about the need for a Prison Key to free him.
The Prison Key is not a single item but is instead divided into three distinct pieces. The first step to acquiring these pieces is to visit Seam in the Field and inquire about the strange prisoner.
Next, travel to the Forest area, specifically where the Paper Dancers are located. A hidden path can be found leading southwest from this area. Follow this path to discover the second key piece inside a chest after defeating the Rabbicks.
For the final key piece, head north from the Field to a puzzle involving suit symbols. The correct sequence to input is Diamond, Heart, Club, and Spade. This sequence can be deciphered by observing the symbols on the different floors of the Card Castle, from bottom to top.
With all three key pieces collected, take them to Smith Malius at the Bake Sale. He will forge them into the complete Prison Key. Return to Jevilâs cell in the Card Castle, unlock his door, and prepare for the battle. Depending on the outcome of the fight (Mercy or violence), players will receive either the Jevilstail armor or the Devilsknife weapon, along with a Shadow Crystal.
Chapter 2 Secret Boss: Spamton NEO
Chapter 2âs hidden boss is Spamton NEO. This encounter is tied to Spamtonâs unique side quest, which must be completed before reaching the chapterâs final boss.
When first encountering Spamton in the alley, it is important to avoid defeating him through normal means. Instead, accept his final deal. Following this, visit Spamtonâs shop located in the Trash Zone. Players should wait for the price of the KeyGen to drop below 100 Kromer before making the purchase.
Proceed to Queenâs Mansion. On the first floor, locate a concealed switch behind a potted plant. Activating this switch reveals a hidden basement. Inside this basement, players will find an abandoned robot containing an EmptyDisk. Bring this EmptyDisk back to Spamton, who will then replace it with a LoadedDisk.
Return to the same machine found in the basement and insert the LoadedDisk. As the player attempts to leave, Spamton NEO will appear and initiate the challenge. Defeating Spamton NEO awards either the Dealmaker or the Puppet Scarf, depending on the chosen route, along with another Shadow Crystal.
Chapter 3 Secret Boss: The Roaring Knight
Unlike the previous chapters, the challenge in Chapter 3âs secret boss, The Roaring Knight, isnât primarily in finding its location. The Roaring Knight appears near the end of the chapter, after the main boss has been defeated. The main difficulty lies in acquiring specific equipment to aid in survival during the battle.
To significantly ease this encounter, players should aim to obtain the Shadow Mantle. This item dramatically reduces the fightâs difficulty. To unlock the Shadow Mantle, players must achieve an S Rank on both TV Time boards.
Earning S Ranks grants access to the S Rank changing room. Inside this room, an NPC located in the upper-left corner will invite the player to experience a hidden game. Visit this room and complete the sequence three separate times. During the third visit, players will face the Shadow Mantle Holder, a hidden mini-boss. Defeating this mini-boss will reward the player with the Shadow Mantle. While it is technically possible to defeat The Roaring Knight without this item, doing so presents a much greater challenge. Defeating The Roaring Knight awards the chapterâs Shadow Crystal.
Chapter 4 Secret Boss: Hammer of Justice
Chapter 4âs primary secret boss is the Hammer of Justice, the Darkner form of Gerson Boom. Accessing this encounter requires collecting several hidden items before a secret passage can be opened.
Early in the chapter, players must defeat the Jackenstein mini-boss. This victory will yield the ClaimbClaws, an item essential for climbing the Sanctuaryâs book ladders.
Next, players need to locate three hidden music pieces scattered throughout earlier areas of the chapter. One piece is found west of the room containing patrolling puffballs, beyond a watery mini-boss. Another piece can be discovered by heading east through the stained-glass hallway and then through a pitch-black room. The final music piece is hidden past a waterfall, within a bell maze.
Once all three music pieces have been collected, proceed to the golden piano located above the Study. Play the complete melody on this piano. The sequence for the melody is: Up, Centre, Up, Left, Down, Centre, Right, Centre, Right, Down, Left, Centre. Playing this sequence correctly will open a hidden passage behind the Study fireplace. It is advisable to save the game before entering this passage, as items cannot be used during the upcoming boss fight.
